TEAM
An expedition of this kind requires polar experts who know what to do at all times. Our project is fortunate enough to have been put together and guided by two of the best and most respected in polar expeditions. Their insight, instinct and experience are the difference between success and failure to the mission as we encounter challenges in logistics, unpredictable weather and all kinds of unforetold hurdles that make for a better post-expedition success story.
Fiona Susan Thornewill has a tremendous amount of experience in both North and South Pole expeditions. She holds several records, including first woman to ski both Poles. She and her husband Mike Thornewill have completed numerous expeditions, both on their own and as guides.
As well as working as a recruitment consultant at “Harpers” of Nottingham, she is a motivational speaker, sharing her experiences about her expeditions and her challenges undertaken in the course of making history. She has won many awards, including Pride of Britain (2000), the Royal Institute Of Navigation Achievement Award (2004) as well as the European Woman of Achievement (2004). |

Mike is one of the two team leaders and polar experts on the team. His experience in endurance-related activities ranges from such events as the London marathon and the British Ironman Triathlon. He has been on numerous polar expeditions and, with wife Fiona, entered the history books as the first husband and wife team to successfully reach both poles.
When not preparing for an expedition or being on one, Mr. Thornewill is also a motivational speaker, ready to talk about the lessons he has learned on the ice - about teamwork, dedication, goal-setting and also about the harshness and majesty of Antarctica.
