THE END offers an extremely rare and intimate glimpse into Jarboe's ability for restraint and straightforward narrative. In the course of this album, she tells disparate stories and recites a Gnostic text against a background of ambient music and sound collages created by Cedric Victor-DeSouza.
Jarboe is perhaps one of the most interesting and multi-faceted vocalists to come out of the 80s "No Wave" era. Known for her stunning vocal range, theatrical stage performances, layered themes and a take-no-prisoners approach to her process in making music, this project is historical as it marks her first incursion into recording spoken-word territory.
